The Bastia audio-guided tour leads you, along Rue Campinchi, to the municipal theatre. By climbing the steps to the theatre square, you discover its façade. Built in 1879, the building occupies a surface of eight thousand square metres in the heart of the city.

A reborn cultural landmark

The theatre has the largest Italian-style hall in Corsica, able to hold eight hundred spectators during performances. Left abandoned for many years, it reopened to the public in 1981 and has since been one of the most important cultural centres of the city, fulfilling versatile functions in the service of creation.

From the theatre square, you admire the façade of the 1879 building, a witness to the cultural ambition of Bastia at the end of the nineteenth century. The Italian-style hall, with its balconies and its decor, hosts shows, concerts and varied performances. It is a lively place, which carries on the theatrical tradition of the city.
