The big street to your left is the Avenue de l’Opéra. At the end of the road, you can see the Palais Garnier, an elegant building taking the name of its architect. Inaugurated in 1875, it’s the second biggest opera in France after the Bastille. It’s also one of the most famous in the world, seen as a true architectural masterpiece. Emily will attend a Swan Lake performance in this very building, trying to make up to Pierre Cadault. In this scene, Emily's look deliberately recalls the iconic actress Audrey Hepburn. It’s true, they really do look alike, especially with Lily Collins dressed up like that! You probably remember Gabriel’s reaction to her coming down the stairs, beautiful and elegant as ever. A great tribute to this important 20th century actress. In this scene, there’s also a small reference to one of the most successful TV shows of the 2000s: Gossip Girl, just as famous for its sense of fashion than for its shooting location! It’s even a huge sneak peek, as a character reveals how the series ends. So watch out for the spoiler during episode 6, for those who haven’t finished Gossip Girl yet! Anyway, we’ve got to see the interior of this beautiful opera thanks to this scene! The film crew was really lucky in fact, now that you think of it, as they got to spend a whole night in Opéra Garnier. Imagine yourself shooting in one of the capital’s most beautiful buildings! That’s so cool! This tour does not bring you there, but if you really wish to see it, you can go back down the avenue or visit another time during your stay. In any case, it’s an absolute must-see in Paris!
