Place de l'hôtel de ville (Townhall square)
You have arrived on the charming square of the town hall. The hall was built in 1863. Let's put ourselves in context. If you were living here at that time, it would be just three years since your region belonged to France and no longer to a free province of the future Italy. The building constructed to serve as the Town Hall is the first in town to exhibit a French eclectic style. Charles Bernard Pellegrini is the architect behind it. He will be the official architect of the cities of Aix-les-Bains and Chambéry. The square itself is quite pleasant and lined with historical facades. By the way, it's the perfect place to stop for a coffee. I'll leave you to enjoy it.
