Poissonnerie Square

Here you are at the Marc’had Pesked—forgive my Breton—that’s the fish market. Nothing is sold here anymore, but the roof structure, carved with geometric fish motifs, is well worth a look. The entrance is guarded by a sculpture called the Orbiche, representing a dogfish, the smallest of the sharks. And all around, on the beams above, the fish seem to whisper a little rhyme: “The sea carries us / The tide sweeps us away / The fisherman takes us / And here he brings me.”
