The Pont-Neuf of Toulouse, the oldest bridge over the Garonne

Despite its name, the Pont-Neuf is today the oldest bridge of Toulouse spanning the Garonne. A symbol of the city, it links the two banks of the river. The Toulouse audio-guided tour stops here to evoke this emblematic monument of the Pink City.

A brick bridge over the Garonne

The Pont-Neuf links Place du Pont-Neuf to the left bank of the Garonne. Built in brick and stone over several centuries, it is paradoxically the oldest bridge of Toulouse still in service. Robust and elegant, designed to resist the floods of the river, it has become one of the symbols of the Pink City and offers fine views of the Garonne and its banks.

What to see

Here you cross the Garonne while admiring the brick arches of the bridge, the views of the river, the left bank and the dome of the Hôtel-Dieu. The Pont-Neuf is an ideal viewpoint over the Pink City, especially at sunset. It is a must-see stop of Toulouse, at once a monument and a belvedere over the Garonne.

Practical information

The Pont-Neuf lies in the heart of Toulouse, spanning the Garonne between Place du Pont-Neuf and the left bank, reachable on foot. It is a freely accessible public structure, open at all times and on the level. The views are particularly beautiful there in the late-day light.
