Port of Dieppe

Isn’t it strange how you slow down and simply start wandering around, as you approach a port? Located at the heart of the city, with its docks serving as the hub of life, the port of Dieppe is both the identity and the economic engine of the destination. The Norman city, which has always been associated with the sea, exploited its maritime status to the fullest, making its port the largest in France in the 16th century. So much so that many people call Dieppe the "city of 4 ports". Why four, when only one stands before you today? By this appellation, focus is not on the number of ports, but rather on the functions of the site. The port of Dieppe is home to four major activities. The first activity is scallops and herring fishing, the second is fruit trade, the third is yachting and the fourth is tourism from England, which began in the 1790s. All of these activities have created more than 2,000 jobs under the management of the Ports of Normandy. In a nutshell, Dieppe is a port in the city and a city in the port.
