One of the rare urban gardens in Corsica

Laid out in 1874 and 1875, the Romieu garden was designed to show that, despite its small size, Bastia had amenities worthy of a great city. It is one of the only urban gardens in Corsica. You wander through a vegetation of pines and palm trees, dotted with statues, fountains and decorative vases, between the Citadel and the Old Port.

What there is to see

A true green haven between the Citadel and the Old Port, the garden descends in successive terraces to the sea. From its belvedere, you enjoy a superb view of the port and the boats. It is a place of freshness and calm, ideal for a break away from the bustle, in the heart of Bastia's heritage.

The Romieu garden is between the Citadel district and the Old Port of Bastia, reached by the staircase of the same name. It is generally open all year, with hours that may vary with the season. The paths, sloping and terraced, call for good shoes.
