Saint-Erasme Church

You now walk past the little church of Saint-Erasme. This former Jesuit chapel was consecrated to the patron saint of sailors after the French Revolution. It was built in the late 17th century. If you like model ships, then do take a look inside. You'll see a whole bunch of them, hanging from the chandeliers or sitting on top of the altars! These are ex votos, symbolic offerings commonly placed in churches following a vow or in gratitude for an answered prayer. It's easy to imagine how many sailors must have benefited from his protection! Just outside the church, you'll find the Naporama museum, retracing the life of Napoleon 1st in Playmobile toys! Definitely a highlight if you're with kids, or if you've kept your inner child!
