Built in the 16th century at the initiative of King Francis I, founder of the city, the church is an integral part of the Saint-Francois district, one of the oldest in Le Havre. Its present facade, rebuilt in 1841, is characterised by a porch with three arches. Unlike the other districts, heavily hit but rebuilt by Perret, Saint-Francois has kept part of its old soul.
