Saint-Germain Church in Amiens

Built shortly after the Hundred Years’ War, Saint-Germain Church in Amiens is the oldest church in the city after the cathedral. Dating back to the 15th century, it’s a beautiful example of flamboyant Gothic architecture. What really sets it apart is its bell tower — it leans slightly to the north, giving the church a charming, off-balance look. That’s why locals affectionately call it the “Little Pisa of Picardy.” It’s been listed as a Historic Monument since 1906. During the French Revolution, the church was converted into a slaughterhouse, but it was later restored. Today, it no longer hosts religious services, but instead serves as a venue for cultural events — from exhibitions to classical music concerts.
