Saint-Sauveur Church

This Jesuit-style church was built between 1740 and 1749 on the site of a former 17th-century chapel. The Recouvrance district was rapidly growing at the time, and they needed to build a new, bigger church to accommodate all the faithful. This is how the Saint-Sauveur Church came into being, designed by French military engineer Amédée-François Frézier. It boasts a nine-bay nave and a gabled façade with a semicircular arch. It's one of the oldest churches in Brest and has survived the wars relatively unscathed, having been restored but a few times.
