The striking building before you is the Saint-Victor Abbey, visible even from the Old Port. Founded back in the 5th century, this historic edifice draws on both Romanesque and Gothic styles. It was named after Victor of Marseille, an Egyptian Christian martyr, executed by decapitation in the 3rd century. Visitors can tour the Abbey and see its crypts, chapels and sarcophagi.
