Sainte-Catherine Gallery

The Sainte-Catherine Gallery is where centuries of history meet the creativity of today. This building was once part of a vast Dominican convent, founded at the end of the 13th century on the ruins of Rodez’s Roman forum. Of that enormous complex, only the north wing remains, which originally served as the monks’ refectory. In the 19th century it was turned into military barracks, then later into the departmental archives, before being restored in the 1990s to become an exhibition space. Today, its four vaulted halls showcase contemporary works—paintings, sculptures, photographs, and installations that interact with the centuries-old stones around them. Alongside Rodez’s major museums, like the Soulages and the Fenaille, the Sainte-Catherine Gallery gives both local and international artists a truly unique setting, where medieval heritage and modern creativity come together right in the heart of the city’s historic center.
