The Crédit Lyonnais Glass Roof

Built in the 20th century, the Crédit Lyonnais building holds an unexpected treasure, one that’s far more valuable than the money stored there. As you step inside, you'll be struck by the brilliant light pouring in from the massive glass roof, which is truly the star of the show. This Art Nouveau masterpiece, created from the drawings of Jacques Gruber, a former master glassmaker of the École de Nancy, was designed in 1901. Spanning about 250 m², the glass panels feature clematis flowers, delicately intertwined. This breathtaking work of art, made up of 264 glass panels, has been classified as a historical monument since 1996. If the doors happen to be closed when you arrive, don’t worry – you can still catch a glimpse of this stunning creation through the glass door to the left of the metal shutter.
