The Diver

Hovering above the water, “La Plongeuse” is probably Mont-de-Marsan's most famous statue. And trust me when I say that this city knows a thing or two about this artistic discipline! In 2016, Mont-de-Marsan held its tenth annual “Mont-de-Marsan Sculptures” festival, transforming its streets, squares, and bridges into open-air art galleries. But there was one work that created such a buzz that it went viral on social media. You guessed it, it's the one before you. Introducing Annick Leroy's “La Plongeuse,” aka “The Diver.” Riding the wave of popularity, the city launched a crowdfunding campaign to keep the statue in the city. And just like that, they raised 30,000€ and La Plongeuse officially became a local in her own right.
