For more than a century, visitors have come here to set out on the water, whether by rowboat, pedal boat, or electric boat. The idea of a landing stage dates back to the very origins of the park, which was designed in the 19th century as a vast natural space and leisure destination for the people of Lyon. The building standing before you today dates from 1913 and was designed by architect Étienne Curny. If it is open during your visit, take a closer look at its low profile, designed to preserve the view across the lake, and especially its ceramic decorations, with their plant motifs and soft colors, typical of the Art Nouveau style. Today, the landing stage still has this dual identity: a lively, family-friendly, and popular spot, but also a small heritage feature, discreet and full of charm, along the water’s edge.
