The passer-through-walls

You've just arrived at the Marcel Aymé Square, where you'll come across a strange statue protruding from the wall. It's the Passe-Muraille, the passer-through-walls, a tribute to Marcel Aymé, who lived a stone's throw from here on rue Norvins. If his name doesn't ring a bell, chances are you'll know some of his iconic novels, like "The Tales of the Perched Cat" or "The Man Who Walked through Walls." Actor, writer, and sculptor Jean Marais brought Marcel Aymé's wall-walking character to life here. In a twist of fate, the character who could pass through walls ends up trapped in one not far from his home in Montmartre. What a clever way to pay tribute to one of Montmartre's most famous writers!
