The Suquet Tower

A remnant of the city’s old fortifications, the Suquet Tower was built between the 11th and 12th centuries at the initiative of the abbots of Lérins. Standing 22 meters tall, it once served as a lookout point, keeping watch over the Bay of Cannes — regularly threatened by enemy attacks, both by land and sea, but surveillance and defense weren’t its only roles. Over the years, the tower also served as a makeshift prison for more than a few unlucky souls. With its solid stone walls and stark design… you might say it was perfectly suited for the job. Classified as a Historic Monument since 1937 — along with the Museum of World Explorations, it now offers one of the best panoramic views of Cannes. There’s just one small catch: you’ll need to summon your last bit of energy to climb all 109 steps. But trust us — the view is worth every one.
