View from the Bellanda Tower
The view from the Bellanda tower
A panoramic stop on the Nice audio-guided tour, the first belvedere of the Castle hill park offers an open view from the Bellanda tower. It is an integral part of the Nice landscape and has been widely depicted in painting and photography since the nineteenth century.
A nineteenth-century tower
Contrary to appearances, the Bellanda tower dates from the nineteenth century. It was built, like other elements of the hill, in the spirit of the romantic garden, where the real and the false mingle to create a nostalgic atmosphere. It recalls the presence of a real medieval defensive tower, the Saint-Elme tower, located a little further back.
What to see
From the terrace of the Bellanda tower, the panorama over the Bay of Angels and the Promenade des Anglais is exceptional. It is one of the most photographed viewpoints in Nice, ideal for a contemplative pause during the climb to the top of the hill.
