The viewpoint over the Old Port, an emblematic image
The Bastia audio-guided tour leads you to the most emblematic viewpoint in the city, on the Quai Premier Bataillon de Choc. Boats in the foreground, typical houses and mountains as a backdrop: it is here that you take THE representative photo of Bastia.
Terra Nova and the Genoese citadel
Opposite, on the other side of the port, rises the Terra Nova district, which corresponds to the citadel, where the Genoese settled in the fourteenth century. On the right, above the rooftops, the mountains begin, offering many hiking opportunities a stone's throw from the city. This panorama sums up the singular history and geography of Bastia, between sea and mountain.
