Don’t miss this small bicycle monument by turning around, it’s probably the most original feature in this large park of nearly nine hectares. Gifted in 2011 by the city of Amsterdam and the Embassy of the Netherlands, this bicycle celebrates the twentieth anniversary of Latvia’s regained independence as a symbol of friendship between the two countries and a shared commitment to sustainable mobility. The park certainly holds a few more surprises, as it’s also surrounded by the National Museum of Art and the Academy of Art and features several statues that reflect the country’s history, but let’s wait until the next memorial before coming back to that.
