Saint-Alphonse Church

This is the neo-Romanesque church of Saint-Alphonse. Founded in 1856, the history of its construction is closely linked to the Prussian control of the city, which did not allow the architects to follow the original plans. As a result, the original proportion of the towers to the main building was not respected, but the result is not dramatic either. Inaugurated on Saint Alphonsus's Day, this will henceforth be its name. In Luxembourg, it's said to be the church where you'll always find someone praying. Anyway, don't hesitate to enter and take a look. The height under the vault is remarkable, and the brightly coloured stained glass windows are well worth the effort. You'll find five statues of saints representing Clément, Gérard, Neumann, Onders and Alphonse in the centre.
