A legend at the heart of the founding

Legend has it that the beautiful Melusina asked her husband only one thing: to leave her in privacy at bath time. Every Saturday, she would disappear away from prying eyes. When Siegfried broke the promise and surprised her, he discovered her true nature as a mermaid. Melusina then vanished into the Bock rock, where she is said to return at very long intervals.

The statue, sculpted in sharp-edged pieces of a dark pink hue, illustrates the digital aesthetic of Serge Ecker. Set by the Alzette, it links the founding myth of the city to contemporary creation. It is an original, photogenic stop on the route, at the foot of the old fortifications.
