Albert Park

Here is Albert Park, one of Auckland's main downtown parks. Before European settlers arrived, this site was home to a Māori village. When the settlers founded the city, they built one of Auckland's first European military fortifications on this spot: a barracks that housed soldiers. In the 1880s, the area was transformed into a park, stretching from north to south along the city center. More features began appearing, such as a bronze statue of Queen Victoria, a cast-iron fountain imported from Great Britain, and a charming bandstand. Ideal for a leisurely stroll along its green pathways, Albert Park is a peaceful space amid the bustle of New Zealand’s largest city.
