Riyam Fort

Riyam Fort, on your right, is a small fortification perched on the rock above Riyam Park. Built in the 20th century, most likely during the reign of Sultan Said bin Taimur, it is not an ancient fortress like Al Mirani or Al Jalali, but a more modern observation post designed to monitor maritime and road access to the bay. From its elevated position, it once offered clear views over the port, the corniche and the movement of ships. Today, the fort is not open to visitors and serves mainly as a visual landmark, a quiet reminder of the strategic role this coastline has long played.
