Centro Qosqo de Arte Nativo

Keep following Avenida El Sol until you reach number 872, and you’ll come to the Centro Qosqo de Arte Nativo. Founded in 1924, it is the oldest folklore organization in Peru—and the only place in Cusco offering traditional music and dance performances every evening. Admission is even included with your Boleto Turístico, the city’s well-known cultural pass.

Arrive from 18:30 (6:30 p.m.) to explore its collection of traditional costumes and historic instruments, then at 19:00 (7:00 p.m.), the performers take over the stage for a full hour. Yet this is far more than a simple tourist show. Each performance offers a glimpse into Andean culture: the Tarpuy celebrates working the land, the Saqra sends mischievous little demons spinning across the stage, while the sharply satirical Sijlla openly mocks corrupt colonial judges.

With something different to discover each evening, it’s a joyful burst of music, movement, and color that’s well worth experiencing.
