The Seoul audio-guided tour stops you before Ssamziegil, one of the most original shopping centres in the city, in the heart of the Insadong district. With its spiral-shaped building, it delights lovers of shopping and traditional crafts.

A spiral concept

Opened in 2004, Ssamziegil unfolds four floors of shops linked by a spiral ramp that invites you to stroll from one level to another. Over an area of about four thousand square metres, it brings together some seventy shops of clothing, fashion accessories and crafts, as well as a garden on the top floor, an exhibition room and workshops, some of which existed before the construction of the centre.

What there is to see

Lively and very busy during the day, the centre is adorned in the evening with beautiful lights that highlight its colourful façades. There are craft and handmade products, fashion items and many souvenirs. Restaurants, bars and cafés make it a vibrant place at all hours, ideal for a break in the heart of Insadong.

Practical information

Ssamziegil is in the heart of the Insadong district, in Seoul. The centre is generally open from 10.30 a.m. to 8.30 p.m., with closures on the major Korean festivals such as the Lunar New Year (Seollal) and the harvest festival (Chuseok). Access to the galleries is free.
