The Siam Museum

A cultural stop on the Bangkok audio-guided tour, the Siam Museum is housed in an elegant neoclassical building of the early twentieth century, which was once the seat of the Ministry of Commerce.

Three thousand years of Thai identity

Since its opening in 2008, the museum offers an interactive and modern journey devoted to the history and identity of Thailand. Through its exhibitions, one explores nearly three thousand years of culture and influences, from the first kingdoms of Southeast Asia to contemporary Thailand. One discovers how traditions, peoples and exchanges shaped what was called the kingdom of Siam, the country's name until 1939.

What to see

Far from a static classical museum, the Siam Museum relies on multimedia installations, playful devices and immersive set designs that appeal to families and curious travellers alike. It is a fun and enriching cultural break to better understand the soul of Thailand.
