Let’s take a break from our tour to quickly introduce you to a few points of interest that we couldn’t fit into our various iteneraries. Being a huge city, San Francisco offers numerous museums of incredible quality. We recommand the “Exploratorium”, a remarkable science museum along the Embarcadero. Inside of the Golden Gate Park, you will find the California Academy of Sciences, as well as the Young Museum, which is actually the oldest museum in town. Right next to the Civic Center, do not miss out on the Modern Art Museum of San Francisco, and the Asian Art Museum. Speaking of the Civic Center, even though it is quite far from most points of interest, it is worth the commute, just to enter the City Hall to admire the masterpiece that is the huge staircase, and its incredible roof dome. The building is public, so the tour is free. Our iteneraries have led you through several places of worship, yet there are two more cathedrals that are worth a detour. The first one is Cathedral of St Mary of the Assumption, a very odd and ultra modern cathedral made entirely from concrete. The second is the Grace Cathedral with and archiecture inspired by Notre Dame de Paris and also the largest church in town. If you think you’d enjoy a detour through Japan, make sure to visit Japan Town. You will discover a magnificent 30-meter-tall buddhist temple, gifted by the town of Osaka, and the gates of a moutain temple, opening onto a typical street lined with beautiful Japanese houses. Another must see is the fabulous little village of Sausalito, right across from the Golden Gate Bridge. This fisherman village is renowned for its colorful houseboats. The ideal thing to do is to go there by bike , so you can encounter the wild fauna along the estuary, and enjoy sublime panoramas of the town. , Only 12 kilometers away up North from the bridge, lies one of the most renowned National Parks of California : Muir Woods. If you didn’t go to Sequoia Park, this is your chance to see giant sequoias. South of town, you will find two of the numerous hills of San Francisco, but certainly the most famous ones : Twin Peaks. Standing 300 meters above sea level, that is where you get the best possible view of the region. You should also know that France doesn’t have the monopoly over good wine. Enthousiasts will enjoy a trip down to the beautiful Napa valley. A charming wine region dedicated to gastronomy and fine wines. San Francisco’s Presidio is also a great destination to visit, as it offers multiple activities. If you enjoy hiking, you can walk along the California Coastal Trail, which runs alongside the West Coast of the Park. You will go through gorgeous viewpoints from the hanging bridge and hidden beaches. You will also find a museum about the life of Walt Disney, a Yoda fountain, and the beautiful Palace of Fine Art. Well, with all this, you've got plenty of things to do, if you feel like staying in the area for a while.
