Here you can see a massive steel cloud that is impossible to miss. This structure, known as The Cloud, marks the entrance to the Fashion Show Mall, one of the largest shopping centers in the United States, located right on the Strip. The mall opened in 1981 and was the first major shopping center built along this famous avenue, marking the beginning of large-scale retail in Las Vegas. In the early 2000s it was completely expanded as part of a renovation that cost about one billion dollars, nearly doubling its size and bringing the total today to almost 250 shops and restaurants. During the day, The Cloud provides shade for visitors, and at night it transforms into a giant illuminated screen. Inside, the mall is organized around the Great Hall, a vast open space that occasionally hosts fashion shows, a tradition that actually gave the mall its name. Today it attracts both tourists and locals for shopping trips that can easily last for hours, simply because there are so many stores to explore.
