Mirage and Hard Rock

Across the road is the site of the former Mirage, one of the most iconic hotels in Las Vegas. The resort opened in 1989, developed by Steve Wynn, and it completely changed the image of the Strip by introducing the concept of the modern mega-resort, with large attractions designed to draw people in from the street, including its famous erupting volcano. For more than thirty years, the Mirage helped shape the landscape of Las Vegas before closing permanently in July 2024 to make way for a major new project. In the future, this site will host a brand-new Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, whose centerpiece will be a massive guitar-shaped tower that will be visible from several miles away. This new complex will have nothing to do with the former Hard Rock Hotel that once stood on Paradise Road, which closed in 2020 before being transformed into Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. Here, the plan is an entirely new development designed to replace the Mirage and create a fresh experience built around music and entertainment. The opening of this new Hard Rock is planned for the coming years, marking yet another step in the constant evolution of the Las Vegas Strip.
