You have now arrived in front of one of the most iconic hotels on the Strip. Just look at the enormous decorations framing the entrance, instantly transporting you to the heart of one of Italy’s most beautiful cities: Venice. The entire complex is inspired by the famous City of Doges, with its palaces, bridges, and of course its canals. If you have already visited the real Venice, you may recognize several famous landmarks, including the Doge’s Palace, the Rialto Bridge, and St. Mark’s Campanile. And if the exterior already impresses you, wait until you step inside. The interior immerses visitors in a Venetian atmosphere that is truly worth experiencing. You will walk through a recreation of St. Mark’s Square and along a canal lined with façades inspired by Renaissance architecture. Gondolas glide slowly across the water while gondoliers sing beneath a painted ceiling designed to look like a bright blue sky, no matter the time of day. The Venetian was carefully designed to recreate the feeling of strolling through the Italian city, right down to the smallest details, with artists even traveling to Venice to photograph and reproduce certain architectural elements. The idea for this Venetian theme reportedly came from the wife of the resort’s founder, Sheldon Adelson, after the couple spent their honeymoon in Venice in the early 90s. The hotel opened in 1999 and, together with its neighbor the Palazzo, now forms one of the largest hotel complexes in the world. As you can imagine, it would be difficult to leave Las Vegas without stepping inside the Venetian. It is also directly connected indoors to the Palazzo, which is well worth a visit as well, so take the time to explore this impressive complex at least once during your stay.
