Broussaille and Sackville mural

There’s so much to see in this busy street corner that it’s worth stopping for a few minutes. Soak in the colors, the unique façades, and the lively atmosphere emanating from the surrounding bars and shops. Look back in the direction you just came from. You’ll notice another mural part of the Brussels comic book trail. It features characters from the adventures of Victor Sackville, an English spy working for King George V, who is sent on missions across Europe during the First World War. He was brought to life by writers François Rivière and Gabrielle Borile, and illustrated by Francis Carin. On the other side, on Rue du Marché au Charbon, you can spot all heroes from the comic strip Broussaille. Made by Frank Pé for the Spirou magazine in 1978, this series features an endearing young man, a lover of life and nature, standing in stark contrast to the harshness of the world around him. When you’re ready, take the Plattesteen street immediately to your left to reach our next landmark.
