Coteaux walking trail

On your left at number 38, you’ll see an entrance that marks the starting point of the Coteaux walking trail, a ninety-hectare stretch of greenery just moments from the centre of Liège where nature, old alleyways and striking viewpoints come together. Awarded three stars in the Green Guide and partly classified as a Natura 2000 site, the area is threaded with paths, stairways and terraces that guide you through eight distinct zones, including Favechamps, Le Pèrî, the Terrasses des Minimes, the Montagne de Bueren, Citadel Park, the Carmelite and Fabry woods, and the Vivegnis slope. As you walk, you’ll pass medieval remains, terraced gardens, coal-shale walls and religious landmarks like the former Minimes convent and the beguinage. The route moves between meadows, orchards, woodland and broad views over the Meuse Valley, offering a true pocket of nature right in the heart of the city. Every two years in autumn, the Coteaux Nocturne transforms the area with thousands of candle lights. Within minutes, you step away from the city’s bustle into a landscape where history, calm and sweeping views over Liège meet, and since the site is open all year, it’s well worth setting aside some time to explore it during your stay.
