Not far from the MIM, you’ll find another masterpiece by architect Paul Saintenoy: the Pharmacie Anglaise! Now repurposed as a cocktail bar, it has preserved its original beauty. Who knew that Charles Delacre, the man behind the famous French chocolate brand, was actually a pharmacist? In 1870, he started selling some for its health benefits. Delacre soon became successful, so he decided to open a chocolate shop, right next to his pharmacy, to adapt to his new customers. Later on, he opened a chocolate factory, making himself the official supplier for the court! You know what happens next, since we still find Delacre biscuits in grocery stores to this day.
