The Paseo Bandera
The Santiago audio-guided tour has you enter a world in Technicolor: the Paseo Bandera, a street transformed into a gigantic work of art by the Chilean artist Dasic Fernandez.
A street become a work of art
Fascinated by the street culture in which he grew up in Chile in the 1990s, Dasic Fernandez made a name for himself in street art, with colourful works of strong political and social dimension, present also in Rio, Buenos Aires or Montevideo. Here, nearly three thousand three hundred square metres were covered with multicoloured swirls and three-dimensional illusions. The project was born while the street was closed for metro works: the work was painted directly on the ground in thirty days by a team of twenty people. The result pleased so much that the municipality decided to make this pedestrian promenade permanent.
What there is to see
The Paseo Bandera unfolds on the ground and on the façades its dazzling motifs, which transform an ordinary street into an open-air gallery. It is a lively and photogenic place, become emblematic of the creativity of Santiago. A joyful and colourful stop in the heart of the civic district.
