The Amaliehaven is a small landscaped park at the edge of the harbour of Copenhagen, a stone's throw from the palace of Amalienborg. History

This small park, located a stone's throw from the castle of Amalienborg, offers a fine promenade along the harbour of Copenhagen. Designed in 1983 by the Belgian landscape architect Jean Delogne, it was laid out on the very site of a former shipyard dating from 1802, and offered to the city. It reveals several varieties of plants and flowers that colour it in the fine season, as well as Japanese cherry trees that, in spring, add further to its palette. You also discover there sculptures of the Italian artist Arnaldo Pomodoro. Once at the edge of the water, you benefit from a fine glimpse of the opera of Copenhagen, on the other bank, behind the boats moored at the quays. With its symmetrical rows, its fountains and its opening onto the port, the Amaliehaven harmoniously prolongs the monumental perspective of Amalienborg to the water, and invites to a peaceful promenade in the heart of the city.
