Punting

Walk along the Castle Mill stream for a littke whike, It's a branch of the Thames and more exactly a backwater. This part of the river has little to no current. We're only using it between the two bridges, so you can get a feel for the place, but if you wish, you could continue the walk for a while until you reach the laid-back, bohemian district of Jericho. The path runs alongside the canal, passing friendly cafés and beautiful barges. And if you feel like getting even closer to the water, don't hesitate to try your hand at punting. You may have seen people passing by on flat-bottomed boats, using poles rather than oars to move forward. Well, that's what punting is all about. So leave the gondolas in Venice and the punts on the Thames. You'll have to rent those "punts" to try your hand at this oh-so-typical Oxford practice! They were originally created for hunting and fishing, and eventually became so popular in the 19th century that they are now exclusively dedicated to pleasure cruising. If you don't feel like leading a boat, you can also take part in guided tours, but otherwise, go for it! The hour is a little expensive, but it's enough for the difficulty. In any case, it's a unique opportunity to discover the city in a different way!
