Saint-James Palace

Saint-James Palace is one of the oldest palaces in London. Henry VIII had it built in 1532 in the distinctive Tudor style: red bricks, tall chimneys, narrow doors and windows, crenellated turrets... Saint James's Palace is one of the finest examples of the Tudor architectural style! Following the fire that ravaged the Whitehall Palace in 1698, it became the city's main royal residence until Queen Victoria ascended the throne in 1837. Whitehall Palace has since remained the administrative headquarters of the Crown, the Central Chancery of the Orders of Chivalry and the Royal Guards. It is still the residence of some members of the Royal Family, who enjoy this superb palace, which was once one of the most imposing buildings in London.
