We'd like to take a moment to briefly introduce you to other points of interest that we weren't able to squeeze into our itinerary. Art lovers, rejoice! While in Aix, you can visit Cézanne's studio, where the famous painter worked for the last four years of his life. Here's your chance to see where some of his greatest works were created. You'll get to see his furniture, art supplies, and even special temporary exhibitions. For those who enjoy nature walks, you can follow in Cézanne's footsteps and head for Sainte-Victoire mountain, just a few kilometers from Aix-en-Provence. There are plenty of activities to choose from, including hiking, mountain biking, climbing, paragliding and much more. As for wine lovers, be sure to savor some local wines before leaving the city! There are several wineries just a short drive from Aix, offering wine tours, tastings and wine for sale, of course. The Roquefavour aqueduct is also worth a visit. It's the largest stone aqueduct in the world! It was built in the 19th century to supply water to the city of Marseille and it's incredibly well-preserved today. And speaking of Marseille, why not visit this charming city just 30 kilometers from Aix-en-Provence? It's perfect for a day trip. It's France's third-largest city and it boasts a rich history, being one of the first to be founded in the country. If you want to explore more of Aix's rich heritage, head to Silvacane Abbey, a real jewel of Cistercian art, the Barben Castle, one of the most beautiful in the region, or the Puits Hély d'Oissel Mining Museum, where you'll learn all about the region's mining history. Well, with all this, you've got plenty of things to do, if you feel like staying in the area for a while.
