A quick pause in your visit to share a few more highlights that didn’t make it into the main itinerary—but are well worth discovering. Whether you’re passionate about wine, fascinated by heritage, or just love a good walk, the region around Beaune has something special in store. Just a few minutes away, Savigny-lès-Beaune offers a unique surprise: its 14th-century château is home to an astonishing private collection of fighter planes, vintage motorbikes, and racing cars—an unexpected museum tucked right in the middle of the vineyards.
All around Beaune, legendary wine villages dot the landscape: Pommard, Volnay, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet… These names are part of Burgundy’s winemaking soul, set among the famous climats now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Whether you walk or cycle, the trails through the vines reveal a landscape shaped by centuries of tradition.
Stop in Meursault for its postcard charm, glazed-tile town hall and world-class white wines, or climb to Saint-Romain, perched on a cliff with sweeping views over the valley. In Santenay, you can pair wine tasting with hiking and heritage, exploring the southern tip of the Côte de Beaune with its château, natural springs and scenic trails. A little further on, Chagny invites you to its lively Sunday market—and to a truly unforgettable dining experience at Lameloise, one of the finest restaurants in France.
For something peaceful, head to the Burgundy Canal or the Canal du Centre for a walk or bike ride along the water, past locks and quiet countryside. Another great detour is Nolay, with its medieval covered market and half-timbered houses—a picture-perfect village that feels like a movie set, minus the cameras. And don’t miss the Château de Corton André, with its colourful tiled roof at the foot of Corton hill, birthplace of some of Burgundy’s greatest red wines.
Back in Beaune, take time to stroll through Parc de la Bouzaize, a tranquil oasis with a spring, a pond and even an open-air theatre that hosts summer shows. With all this to explore, don’t be surprised if you find yourself wanting to linger just a little longer in Burgundy.
