We'd like to take a quick break from your visit to briefly introduce all the other points of interest that couldn't be included in the itinerary. Once you've visited the fascinating Nîmes historic centre, I'd recommend taking a stroll around the hiking trails offered by the Espeisses Forest, located to the north-west of the city, to enjoy the fresh air of the South of France! If you still have a little time to spare, visit Uzès, a medieval town with a fascinating history and architecture. Located less than 25 km from Nîmes, you can't leave Nîmes without a visit to the famous Gard Bridge, an impressive masterpiece of ancient architecture! Then you can take a stroll through the Gardon Gorges, a 29-kilometre-long canyon of outstanding natural beauty. For those who want to go a little further, head for Saint-Gilles, around twenty kilometres from Nîmes, to discover the first Camargue villages, this magnificent natural region with unique landscapes. Just a one- hour's drive from Nîmes, high above the Camargue, the Alpilles regional park offers many different walking routes! You'll enjoy magnificent scenery and some of the most beautiful villages in France, including Les-Baux-de-Provence. Less than an hour's drive from Nîmes, the Cevennes range begins, so don't hesitate to take a walk there. If you fancy a tour of the region's picturesque villages, head for Beaucaire, Sommières, Sauve or Vézénobres, whose well-preserved medieval streets are waiting to be explored. Well, with all this, you've got plenty of things to do, if you feel like staying in the area for a while.
