We'd like to take a moment to briefly introduce you to other points of interest that we weren't able to squeeze into our itinerary. Within easy reach, there are countless discoveries waiting. About forty kilometers away lies Conques, ranked among the most beautiful villages in France.

Its Romanesque Abbey of Sainte-Foy, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, preserves a treasure of medieval goldsmithing and shines with stained-glass windows designed by Pierre Soulages, creating a dialogue between ancient and contemporary art. Half an hour’s drive brings you to the Château de Bournazel, with its finely sculpted Renaissance façades and reconstructed gardens—one of the architectural gems of the Southwest. Just twenty kilometers from Rodez, the Bozouls canyon amazes visitors with its dramatic horseshoe-shaped cirque, where the village clings to the edge of the cliff, offering breathtaking views.

Among the medieval bastides, Sauveterre-de-Rouergue stands out with its grand arcaded square and half-timbered houses, a vivid glimpse of medieval life. Najac, perched high above the Aveyron gorges, is dominated by a 13th-century fortress that still recalls the power of the Counts of Toulouse. For lovers of wide-open landscapes, the Aubrac plateau is irresistible, with its pastures, forests, and traditional burons.

It’s also a land of gastronomy, famous for aligot and its renowned Aubrac beef. Further south, the Millau Viaduct stands as a symbol of daring modernity—one of the highest bridges in the world, offering dizzying views over the Tarn Valley. Closer to Rodez, the vineyards of Marcillac spread across the slopes, producing a lively, fruity red wine from the mansois grape, which you can taste in local cellars.

Heading north, Laguiole invites you to its Knife Museum, where traditional craftsmanship is celebrated, perfectly complementing a visit to the Aubrac. The Lot Valley unfolds its picturesque landscapes along the water, with villages like Estaing and Espalion. Further south, the Aveyron Gorges beckon adventurers with canoeing, hiking, and dramatic limestone cliffs.

Other remarkable villages complete the picture: Belcastel, with its restored castle and Gothic bridge; Villefranche-de-Rouergue, a royal bastide animated by its market; Peyrusse-le-Roc, with striking medieval ruins perched on a rocky outcrop; and Salles-la-Source, where a waterfall bursts forth in the heart of the village. Around Rodez, every road leads to a new surprise—between heritage, nature, and gastronomy. Well, with all this, you've got plenty of things to do, if you feel like staying in the area for a while.
