Look at this magnificent structure: it is characteristic of the Baltard style, recognisable by its elegant iron framework, its bright glass roofs and its solid foundations, a style also used for the former central market halls of Paris. These halls belong to the great wave of nineteenth-century urban development. They stand on the former site of the Romanesque Church of Saint-Félix, demolished in 1815. Their importance is officially acknowledged: since 1984, they have been listed as a Historic Monument, and after major renovation work, they were awarded the title of “Most Beautiful Market in France” in 2025.
