The chapel was built at the beginning of the seventeenth century, in 1604, by Hugues le Rupt, a Dole artist much renowned in the Renaissance. It formed part of the Collège de l'Arc, a group of educational establishments long held by the Jesuits. The magnificent polychrome sculpted decor that adorns its porch makes it a quite singular building in the old centre of Dole, testifying to the artistic refinement of the period.
