A district of bourgeois and courtiers

Corresponding to the eastern part of the city, the district was preserved thanks to urban planning operations in the nineteenth century. In the sixteenth century, when Blois shone as a royal residence, this portion of the city was inhabited by the bourgeoisie and by certain members of the king's court. From this prestigious past remain fine residences, inner courtyards and ornate staircases, to be discovered along the alleys.

There you discover Renaissance private mansions, galleries and hidden courtyards, witnesses to the prestigious Blois of the sixteenth century. The Puits-Châtel district is in the eastern part of the historic centre of Blois. It can be walked freely on foot at all hours; its alleys, sometimes steep and cobbled, require good shoes. The private mansions can be contemplated from the street.
