A neo-Gothic basilica

The history of the place goes back to the twelfth century, when the duke of Lorraine authorised the construction of a first church, at the time of the rapid development of Nancy. But the present version of the basilica dates only from the end of the 1800s: it was entirely rebuilt in a flamboyant neo-Gothic style, thanks notably to donations from all over Europe. Its slender spire is one of the highest in the city.

The basilica impresses with its eighty-seven-metre spire, its sculpted portal and its stained-glass windows. Inside, the neo-Gothic elevation, the vaults and the coloured light invite silence and contemplation. Located near Place Stanislas and the Old Town, it is a high spiritual place of Nancy, to be discovered with respect.
