Séminaire Chapel

Turn around and take a moment to admire the façade in front of you. This belongs to the Chapel of the Seminary. While it's not open to visitors, you can still appreciate its exterior, a stunning example of 18th-century architecture. Built in 1706 at the request of the city’s bishop, André Colbert, this chapel was part of a seminary, a place where priests were trained in Church doctrine, rites, and ceremonies. Seminaries often served other functions too, such as schools or high schools, offering educational programs to lay students. That’s why these buildings sometimes evolved into colleges or high schools, like the nearby Lycée Général Jacques Amyot. This is a truly special building that has been thoughtfully restored to preserve its rich history.
