The Palais de Justice was decided in the middle of the nineteenth century by the kingdom of Sardinia, of which Savoy then formed part. Its construction was completed after the attachment of Savoy to France, in 1860, so that the building embodies the passage from one sovereignty to another. Its neoclassical architecture, sober and solemn, expresses the authority of justice and the dignity of the institution.
