The Villa Mirasol

The Mont-de-Marsan audio-guided tour presents you with the Villa Mirasol, a majestic period dwelling that brings a touch of elegance to the confluence of the three rivers of the capital of the Landes.

A Belle Époque dwelling

In 1907, the miller Joseph Lapelle-Lateulère acquired the land to build his residence there, while keeping an eye on his factory located on the opposite bank of the Douze. Inaugurated in 1912, the villa was designed by the Mont-de-Marsan architect Léonce Léglise on the model of the bourgeois dwellings of Hossegor and Capbreton. In Belle Époque style, it integrates elements of the Landes house, such as brick and the hipped roof. Inside, sixteen rooms with richly sculpted ceilings unfold over some four hundred and seventy square metres. Its name comes from the Spanish "mirar el sol", "to look at the sun".

What there is to see

After a period of abandonment and an important restoration, the Villa Mirasol today houses two restaurants and a hotel, and hosts on occasion exhibitions and concerts. Its elegant façade and its large windows make it a jewel of the Mont-de-Marsan heritage, to be admired at the water's edge. It is a fine example of Belle Époque architecture in the capital of the Landes.
